Submit to Dually Noted

Dually Noted is Brink’s exciting group-writing project. New and established writers from around the world come together to either create one ongoing story through weekly installments, or the collection features powerful standalone stories. If you have a great idea for the theme, shoot us your 500-word addition by Friday night. Our editor will publish the best submission at the beginning of each week. Remember, we do not accept submissions that are not correctly formatted (see guidelines).

How do I submit?

Simply click to submit below. Select “Dually Noted Group-Writing Project” in the submission manager, fill in your info, and attach your work. We ask that all new authors (who have yet to publish with us) please add a brief author bio in the cover letter section of their submissions (this allows us to expiate the publishing process should your work be selected). Submission to our Group-Writing Project are absolutely FREE!

Why submit to Dually Noted?

It’s awesome!
Ever read a story, comic book, or movie, and wish you could jump in and mess with the plot?  Or just thought you could do better? Well now you can!

Your writing brain needs exercise and variety
Athletes don’t just practice by playing the game: they run, lift weights, drill the fundamentals. So should you! Do a quick 500-word lap to hone your cleverness and creativity…and take the opportunity to show off a bit.

Writing is a lonely craft
Sitting down to write that next bestseller turns into isolating work.  You need some interaction, some encouragement, some writer friends to share the struggles. Brink’s staff and members are here for you.  Join us and come in from the cold!

Publication
Gaining publishing credit is one of the most important things an emerging writer can do to snag an agent. As any seasoned writer knows, that process is very difficult, time consuming, and…well…soul sucking. But it doesn’t always have to be.

Whether you’re looking to land your first publication credit or just adding another to improve your resume, Dually Noted is a great way to turn a fun, short work into a step toward (recognized) greatness.

The Theme of the Next Project is “Sideshow Acts for the End of the World.”

Starting March 4, 2024, we’ll be accepting submissions for the next cycle of Dually Noted. Each 500-word section should be a complete story arc. Writers are free to submit stories of any genre, subject, or style (even poetry is welcome!), but submissions should adhere to the theme. Feel free to use your imagination and come up with interesting ways to incorporate this idea. Submissions are due Fridays at 11:59 pm PST. We’ll also post the best submissions each Thursday!

When is the deadline?

The deadline for each submission is each Friday night by 11:59 pm PST. Submissions sent after the deadline will be considered for the following week.

How will I know if I’ve been selected for publication?

You will receive confirmation of your submission within 24 hours; however, only the winning author will be notified if their story is chosen. The winner will be published the following Thursday.
