Valerie San Filippo

Valerie San Filippo is a writer and educator from Long Island, New York. She received her MFA in Fiction from Stony Brook Southampton, where she taught undergrad courses on fantasy and surrealism. Her short stories and poetry have appeared in F(r)iction, PANK, and elsewhere. She is a graduate of the Odyssey Writers Workshop, and a recipient of George R.R. Martin’s Miskatonic Scholarship for Horror Writing.  

As the Education Program Manager at Brink, Valerie teaches storytelling to a brilliant community of justice-impacted students. She works with a vibrant team of educators, student advisors, and community partners to develop literacy, mental health, and self-advocacy resources for students across the country. She currently lives in Denver with her husband and their beautiful dog, Bartleby Beatrix Nosewyse Nelson, first of her name.
