Carter Elwood graduated summa cum laude from California State University, Long Beach with a BA in English Literature and Creative Writing with a minor in American Sign Language. Their work has appeared in publications such as The Establishment and Inside the Bell Jar. They are the recipient of the John B. Williams Award in Literary Research and Writing. Elwood is an elementary school educator, assistant to children’s authors, and child rights activist. They love spending time with their pet tarantula (Cassandra) and ball python (Riley), practicing witchcraft, and volunteering as a sea turtle monitor.
